Chaplain Craig Weber
Hospice Chaplain
Craig was hired in May of 2006 as a Per Diem Chaplain. In September of
2007 he became a member of the Hospice House chaplaincy team, and
shortly after began time sharing his time between the Hospice House and
the In-Home Hospice
programs. In September of 2009, Craig moved to a full time
position with the In-Home
hospice care program allowing him to work with patients and their
families in their private homes or place of residence.
Craig was born and raised in North Dakota. He graduated with a BA in
Communications from the University of North Dakota, and a Master of
Divinity from Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. His
first CPE unit was in North Memorial Medical Center, Minneapolis,
Minnesota. Ordained as an American Baptist Minister in 1982, he served 3
churches in the Midwest, primarily in the St. Louis, Missouri area. When
he first moved to the Tri-Cities, he received training from Emergency
Services Chaplain Bill Lotz and volunteered for several years as an
Emergency Service Chaplain. Craig finished his final 3 units of CPE
under the supervision of Rev. Wes McIntyre, The Chaplaincy’s CPE
Supervisor. During CPE he did his clinicals at Kadlec Medical Center,
the Benton County Jail, and Kennewick General Hospital. It has been said
by several of his peers that Craig exemplifies the unique multiple site,
cross-disciplinary chaplain ministry The Chaplaincy offers to the
community. Craig became a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association
of Professional Chaplains in February of 2009.
Craig wishes to ‘companion with’ patients and their families. He
believes that declining health, accidents, tragedies and crises of
different kinds can cause even the most effective individuals to
suddenly freeze in shock or feel life is spinning out of control. He
walks with individuals and families during times of crises and grief
hoping that he may help them find the resources and strength they need
within themselves, their family and their faith structures to meet their
personal challenge. For Craig, it is a special privilege to companion a
dying person to the point where this world begins to fade, and Another
comes to escort them into the next.
