Spiritual Companioning is the rediscovery of an ancient tradition of Spiritual Mentoring. It offers individuals a way out of the Spiritual poverty and barrenness that are by-products of our modern world of individualism and autonomy. Spiritual Companioning has as its focus a person’s experience of the Divine or his/her hunger to connect with Mystery. Sometimes referred to as Spiritual Guidance or Spiritual Direction, Spiritual Companioning is an on-going relationship in which one person, desirous of being attentive to his/her Spiritual life, meets with another person (the Spiritual Companion) on a regular basis, specifically for the purpose of becoming more attuned to Divine Presence or Mystery in his/her life and discovering ways to respond more fully to that Presence.
